GLASS MUSEUM / SARS-POTERIES

Architectural project, Master 1 - in collaboration with Ariane de Fleurieu & Audrey Luce - 2014

DATA /
The proposed program is the relocation of the Sars-Poteries Glass Museum near the glass workshops, built in 2001 on the northern part of the land.

The surface area of the museum will be around 3,000 m2, including exhibition areas, an important storage area for artworks and educational spaces in particular.

The idea is to provide Sars-Poteries with a region-wide museum.

PROJECT /
Glass is a mysterious material, it is the one that reveals light. This is why we buried the museum, in order to form a supernatural cave, a stone case, where we would come to discover the precious work of glass. To respond to this landfill, a belvedere soars towards the historic center to reconnect with the history of the place, Sars-Poteries was before a place of glass factories.

The blue stone from the region is the main material used, placed on the concrete structure .

Entry sequence

View from the entrance hall

The patios light up the buried spaces, they are like shards of glass thrown on the ground. The building blends into the fields, it is covered with a meadow conducive to rest. This meadow slides into the museum thanks to the multiple patios. The exhibition spaces have variable heights which make us experience a real journey. The museum should be a real experience.

Scenographic axonometry

The artworks are arranged in two systems: on pedestals of different heights or in niches inserted in the stone wall.
