AGRI-URBAN STAPLE / Diploma Project

Architectural project - 2015

PROJECT /
After the definition of the urban project, the project turned towards the development of the footbridge between the two sides of the project. Pontoise's agricultural past led me to propose an agri-cultural center.

This place of passage would become a place of learning new agricultural techniques (aeroponics, permaculture, sustainable agriculture...).

The project is an articulation between the suburban district in the south and the city center in the north on which the project is based.

The formal idea is a field on which “barns” are grafted.

The footbridge actually crosses the entire agri-cultural center. Market gardening can be seen by passersby and is open to educational workshops .

The greenhouses allow learning aeroponics and hydroponics, but also permit a continuous production throughout the year. The point of sale allows the sale of the products from the farm but also those of local producers (radius of 50km).

The supporting structure follows the logic of the station platforms. Concrete posts support the concrete slab having sufficient thickness to contain enough earth. On this concrete slab, metal structures form the various barns.
Only the educational center joins the ground to allow a second access to the educational center.

The wood (larch) is used for roofing barns. The interior is sleek, white to focus on outside. The barns pierced right through allow transparency, blocking the view is unthinkable. The fluidity of the space is privileged.
